Explore the Borneo mangrove area with a closer look and in a more adventure way. Gliding on the mangrove river by using a paddle to propel your direction is the perfect way to enjoy the nature and wildlife a long the way. That is why #SUP safari in the mangrove introduced to you here in Sabah. This is the first mangrove safari with stand up paddle board ( sup) in the region.
The mangrove area is located at the area of Serusup river in Tuaran town which is about 20 to 30 minutes of journey with ground transportation from #kotakinabalu city. From a city panorama to the village view, you will not be boring of the view towards the startingpoint of the safari.

Upon arrival, local snacks and drinks will be provided. The starting point also is facilitated with changing rooms and restrooms.
Next is the time to start the adventure. But before that, the safari guide will be introduced and do the basic lesson and briefing about the tour. Equipment introduction and handling, proper water entry with the equipment, the proper way to stroke are some basic knowledge that will be briefed by the guide. Some people might think it is hard to stand up on the board, but the board actually has a large stand up surface which purposely made to ease the balance for the beginners. The good news is you can sit on the board while paddling too.
The journey will start from the main river to the smaller river in the mangrove. As soon as entering the mangrove river, the water will be very calm and flat. A little bit of current will actually help u to move . Control your sup board with your paddle according to the briefing that you get before. The turquoise colour of the river as well as good visibility of it, you can see some species of fishes swimming inside it. The mangrove birds even the eagle also can be spotted in the mangrove. If lucky, #proboscis monkey , the long tail macaque as well as beavers and otters also will go out to play along the river banks. The mangrove landscape also is beautiful and unique.
The ending point of the safari will be on the beach to see the sunset. The total length of the route is about 3km and will consume about one and a half hour of slow pace of paddling. Resting on the beach after the adventure is a perfect way to end the journey. Finally a speed boat will come to fetch you up to the starting point to have a dinner on the river banks.
